I read this as part of my YA class, where we got to pick a mystery book.

I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter

After reading Out of Darkness, I needed something to lighten the mood a little bit. While the book synopsis says this book is “laugh-out-loud”, there’s still some seriousness to it and I did tear up at a few parts to it.

The Hate U Give

This was so good and again so different than what I usually read. It’s a great book and I look forward to seeing the movie. Everyone should read it before it comes out!

Fourth Week of YA Class – Printz Award Winners

This is based loosely around the New London, TX, school explosion in 1937, which stands as the deadliest school incident yet. I could totally see this being made into a TV-series drama or something as well (maybe PBS could pick it up or something) because while it starts off with the explosion, it’s more about the people in the town and the aftermath.
