Hench reminded me a lot of the Amazon Prime TV show, The Boys, where the world is inhabited by people who have superpowers and for the most part, they’re managed like celebrities or sports stars and generally save the day from bad guys. The main difference is that there are supervillains in this world.

Two Novellas is Not Enough
Needless to say, these were right up my wheelhouse, though when I asked them through our inter-library loan system, I didn’t realize they would be so short! Luckily, I got both of them at the same time and were able to read them one right after the other.
Finishing the Lord of the Rings
Haha! I did it! I feel stupidly proud to have read all of the Lord of the Rings books again. Plus I have some hot takes on Arwen and Eowyn’s characters.
More Ancient History – Four Lost Cities
I’ve always found history interesting – the older, the better. So it’s no wonder I immediately picked this up at my library. But I also tried something different with this one, because I really wanted to read it: I listened to the audiobook.
How to be a Good Creature – Remembering past pets
That being said, I thought this would going to be a little hokey. I’ve seen memoir titles like this, where authors tell the reader how to be good at something by retelling parts of their life stories and drop a little life lesson in at the end. I’m not one for self-improvement books, obviously. But this was way different.
Monument stealing and the history of Egyptology – A World Beneath the Sands
While reading through this, I was struck by how cavalier foreign nations treated ancient Egyptian monuments and artifacts. It truly was finders keepers throughout most of the early history of Egyptology.
First Book Club Book – Meg & Jo
As part of a book club with friends, I read Meg & Jo, a modern retelling of Little Women, despite not having read Little Women and only seeing the most recent movie adaptation.
Invisible Differences: A Story of Asperger’s, Adulting, and Living a Life in Full Color
Graphic novels can be just as informative as “real” books, maybe even more so, like in the book “Invisible Differences”.
The Two Towers – probably the best movie adaptation
I’m on my way to finishing the Lord of the Rings trilogy! Reading it after so many years has lead me to the conclusion that’s the best movie adaptation out of the whole trilogy. Kinda.
First Book of 2021: The Fellowship of the Ring
I find myself in need of comfort and familiarity during the first week of 2021 and find it in a weird place.
