2019 Reading Challenge

So I’m super late on this but I guess I’ll add that to one of my New Year’s Resolutions. Speaking of which, I’ve been thinking about my reading goals for 2019.

The Library Book – An Ode to Libraries

t was really nice to take a break during my YA class to read something not YA. And seeing how I’m going to library school, I decided to read The Library Book. This will also be my last 2018 book I read, even though it’s here in the new year.

In Cold Blood

I know this isn’t a recent book but I recently read No Saints in Kansas and wanted some more background information. And like I said in that post, I have something of a personal connection with the case. While this will be coming out in 2019, I read it while it was 2018, so I’m counting it towards my 2018 Reading Challenge.

Week 13 – Graphic Novels

For my YA class, we decided to skip Week 12, which was going to be poetry, short stories, or a play/screenplay, and I had an awesome lined up. Instead, we had an online discussion board about The Hate U Give, which is fine but I was really looking forward to my play (kind of) that…

Emergency Contact

Two of the most awkward human beings in fiction form an emergency contact relationship, helping each through the tough times in their lives while also forming an irresistible romance.

Seventh Week of Class – Historical Fiction

For my next class, we had to read a historical fiction novel. I was a little lost on which one to pick, since we had to pick something that was published in the last five years.

Sixth Week of YA Class – Comedies

Sometimes, I feel like people (or maybe it’s just me) equate comedy in books with romantic comedies, where the girl falls in love with a guy and hilarious stuff takes place in between. This wasn’t like that at all.

Fourth Week of YA Class – Mysteries

I’ll admit I was feeling pretty cocky going into this because I so easily guessed pretty much everything in A Noise Downstairs. But this left me guessing as to who the suspect was and even then, the case isn’t solved and you’re left with more clues than answers. I read this as part of my YA class, where we got to pick a mystery book.

The Hate U Give

This was so good and again so different than what I usually read. It’s a great book and I look forward to seeing the movie. Everyone should read it before it comes out!
